Well its the weekend... Took the Savage's carb off to check things out. I wonder if Suzuki could tighten the phillips head bolts on the top of the carb any tighter?! GOT to switch those rascals to allen head screws! Turns out the manual is wrong and the parts counter is right, the main jet is a 145. Also of interest, when the needle shim is removed, the needle comes up out of the main jet, making the mixture richer, the opposite of the Suzuki Bandit 1200's four Mikuni carbs where you need to add shims to pull the needle up. There is a little spring driving the needle up against the locking plate. Seems like a risk for the two locking screws to work loose on this design, fighting the spring pressure and vibration. Anyway, I buttoned it back up and now have to wait until the break in is complete before I putz any more.
